I think the meaning is pretty literal. It just tells me to work hard and be nice to people. Both of those things are the top two qualities that high school students lack the most. It's pretty good advice, but it kind of sounds funny when you put them together and use it as a motto. I think we should try something a bit more catchy... I can't really give an example right now so just pretend I said something cool. Think about that!
