The First Amendment and You

Freedom of speech! Freedom of the press! So the First Amendment protects our right to say and publish whatever our little hearts desire right? Wrong. Even though we may be living in the "land of the free" or whatever, there are still some condtitions. Do you really think we can say whatever we want? Can we really publish whatever we want? What about malice? What about yelling from across the room from the President that he's a big fat meanie? Well of course we can't say or publish whatever we want, so what the Constitution should really say is "Freedom of the Press Unless What You're Printing is Going to Ruin Someone Else's Life" and "Freedom of Speech Unless You're Calling the President a Big Fat Meanie." Then the First Amendment would be 100 percent fool-proof. Bianca for President! Yeah!

The Future of Journalism

Journalism is still probably going to be around for a long while before it dies out. I mean, we're still going to want to know about hot topics. There is just something about opening a fresh newspaper and keeping up with the world (or flipping thorugh to the comic section like me). It is quite obvious that technology is bound to take over sometime (umm, robot world domination theories anyone?) and doing anything by physical means will soon be obselete. Sure, there will be some obscure group that will be fighting for the newspaper spirit to live on, but will anybody really follow through when everything can be in your hands with a click of a virtual button? Yeah, that's what I thought.

They Say That Friends Come and Go...

They say that friends come and go...but when they go, they have to have a legitimate reason, right? What if he/she was one of your really good friends, and you already promised the other person that you would never hurt them? What if when you start high school, you see each other for the first time in a while and everything is alright? What if you start texting each other again like nothing ever changed? What if a few days later, that person starts ignoring you? What if as weeks go by, they start treating you less like a stranger and more like a pariah? What if... this was a reality? Well guess what? There are no "what if's." Right now, this is my reality. And personally, my reality just sucks. This person has been my really good friend for a long time (or so I thought) and now I just don't know what's going on. I did nothing wrong. They say that friends come and go, but they also say that when true friends meet again after a separation, it's as if nothing had ever happened. Well now I know that this person wasn't a true friend. She has served her time in my life. And now she is disposable. Just like our friendship. Ignorance is her new best friend.

Parallel Reflection (AKA Me Being Super Deep!)

I am a mirror. And right now, I feel like I've just been dropped on the floor. All the little pieces falling, shattered. The shards of me are too sharp too put back together. They're too small to matter, but big enough to make me realize that I'm incomplete. I've been looking in the mirror for so long, and now I've come to believe my soul's on the other side. It's in a different world, living the life I've been living. But when will I come back to reality? I'm not sure if I'll ever live life on the other side.

Bianca's Dream Home

A roomy house on the beach, a delicate cottage in the middle of a forest, a castle overlooking a treacherous cliff... So many to choose from--but I want to be different. I want a large, majestic mansion with long glass windows on every panel. Upon entering said mansion, you will be greeted with a stunning marble winding staircase with a crystal chandelier looming from above. The floor will be tiled with shards of smooth diamonds reflecting your every move and with light dancing at every angle. Most importantly, my room will be spectacular. A chic canopy bed draped in damask and a Paris Opera House-style chandelier hanging overhead, with a fluffy white rug and dimmed white lights illuminating the room's magnificence. My mansion's location would be in Japan, a beautiful country that gives me the opportunity to have rows of pink Cherry Blossoms directing the path to my abode (aka in my front lawn). So there you have it, my dream home. This is a place I am resolute in aqcuiring.
